The Experience

Working with Liesl

From inquiry to gallery delivery and beyond, once you invite me to join you on your motherhood journey, I am ALL in. I've been described as your personal hype-girl and I embrace that title with all of my heart! You'll find that I am quick to communicate and I delight in taking the burden of planning off of you so that you can enjoy your photography and motherhood experiences without stress. Whether it's ensuring you're prepared for your birth or helping you select the best outfits for your sesh, I've got you, Mama!

When we meet in person you'll find that I am full of joy and enthusiasm. If you have littles that need time to warm up to me, I have all the patience in the world and will be as silly as I need to be (or as calm and gentle!) to help them (and you!) have a good time and feel comfortable in front of the camera. If I'm attending your birth, I can be hands-on supporting and encouraging you, or a quiet, barely-noticed presence in the room, covering you in silent prayers as you bring forth your precious new life.

Whatever season of motherhood you are in, it is my utmost pleasure to walk alongside you! You're doing a great job, Mama!

FAQ

01. Do you photograph anything besides babies and births?

Yes! My primary focus is "motherhood" photography which includes everything from pregnancy moments through your kids being all grown up! I photograph pregnancy, birth, newborn, baby and child milestones, and family portraits. I also photograph seniors upon request. Occasionally I will take on engagements/weddings, usually for return clients or friends.

02. How far in advance should I book?

For pregnancy, birth, and newborn the sooner the better! I limit how many clients I take per month in these categories to ensure availability, avoid burnout, and protect time with my family. For sessions with more flexibility, like family sessions, I still recommend booking at least a month in advance if not more - especially if you're looking to book in the busy and popular fall months.

03. Why do you not offer birth and doula services separately?

As I moved into this area of serving birthing mamas, I continually found that if I offered one service without the other, I felt I wasn't fully serving my mamas. For the most part, birth can be documented in moments rather quickly, and support provided as a doula in all the in-between. Sometimes this doesn't work for what a birthing mama needs, and that's okay. My doula services are optional but always included with my birth photography package. It's up to you how you'd like to use that service, and you are not required to!

04. What do you do to help me prepare for my session?

For my birth clients, we'll meet in advance of your birth to ensure you know who will be in the room with you during such an intimate time, and go over all the details you need to know ahead of time.

For all other sessions, we'll communicate primarily via email and I will send you my location guide for outdoor sessions and help you choose the best spot that fits your vision. You'll receive my styling guide to help choose to the best outfits and styles to flatter your body and create timeless portraits that match my photography style.

All clients also have access to my client wardrobe! For my mamas I have a collection of beautiful, carefully curated gowns in a variety of sizes that are also flexible to most sizes and to baby bumps. I also have a children's wardrobe with girls' dresses up to size 14, and a wide variety of baby outfits and accessories for both boys and girls.

Additionally I am available anytime to answer questions and will respond quickly so that you can have a good time and not stress over the details!
